Fergus began working at Towers + Gornall in 2014, after finishing his A Levels. Completing AAT’s Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting in early 2018, he’s now studying in Manchester towards full ACCA membership.
Through work he has developed an interest in the progression of accounting software as it moves towards meeting requirements for Making Tax Digital. He keeps abreast of the latest developments and features of T+G’s partnered cloud bookkeeping software and is qualified as a ‘FreeAgent Expert’ and a ‘Certified Xero Adviser’.
Outside work, Fergus is passionate about music, regularly attending gigs and concerts, as well as performing all over the local area. From playing bass in an instrumental, improvised, progressive-metal band to saxophone in both a funk and soul function band and a parading carnival street band.
Fergus also volunteers year-round as a member of the Lancaster Jazz Festival Team, spending most of the year working towards a weekend-long showcase, held in Lancaster, of the nation’s most cutting edge, contemporary jazz. The aim of the Festival is to boost Lancaster’s cultural profile and to support emerging artists towards the next steps in their career.
