My Accountancy journey began back in the summer of 2016, when I joined Towers & Gornall on their Apprenticeship programme at the age of 18, after finishing my A-levels at Lancaster Girls Grammar School.
I was very lucky to fall into a career that I love by chance, only knowing at the time that I didn’t want to pursue the normal education progression onto university, but instead gain experience and qualifications whilst working on-the-job.
This proved to be the best ‘gut’ decision that I made, as I became fully qualified and achieved my Certified Chartered status at the age of 25, proudly passing all of my AAT and ACCA exams first time (26 exams in total, yikes)!
Although I sacrificed a lot during my journey to becoming chartered, I had the most incredible support system around me, with a special shout out to my now husband Matt, who would certainly put up a good argument to also being a qualified accountant himself after 7 years of flashcards!
We married this spring in the beautiful Ribble Valley, and we were lucky enough to honeymoon in Thailand where we had the most amazing time.
Outside of the office walls, I am a huge sport enthusiast competing regularly with Matt in CrossFit competitions at the weekend, both locally and sometimes further a-field (any excuse to get on a plane). We live an active lifestyle constantly trying to keep up with our adopted sausage dog, Lola and with Matt working his dream job as Head Coach at a local CrossFit gym, we get to do what we love with our friends on a weekly basis.
I am always up for a challenge and striving to reach my potential, so I am excited to see what the future holds for me at T&G.
