This International Women’s Day, we celebrate not only the achievements of women but also the changes we’ve seen in traditionally male-dominated industries like accountancy. Gone are the days where careers were divided by gender or where women had to choose between family life and career ambitions. In fact, accountancy has evolved into a profession where anyone, regardless of gender, can succeed if they have the passion, skills and determination to work for it. The once stereotypical image of a stiff, number-crunching accountant has transformed into a dynamic and inclusive field, welcoming people from all walks of life.
According to Chloe Bardsley, Director at Towers & Gornall, her journey in accountancy has been greatly shaped by the support she’s received at Towers & Gornall. Chloe shares,
"The flexibility in balancing my career aspirations with family life has made a world of difference, and I’m incredibly grateful to work in an environment where my professional growth and personal commitments are equally valued. This level of support allows me to thrive in my role and to also be present for my family - a balance that, not so long ago, might have seemed impossible."
As Chloe reflects on her experience, she is motivated to pass on the support she’s received to other women at Towers & Gornall. Every woman has her own unique journey, and it’s important that we continue to nurture talent in whatever form that may take. Whether a woman’s path leads her toward career progression, family life, or a combination of both, the environment we create for them is crucial. Chloe hopes her story can inspire others to feel empowered and supported as they move forward in their own careers.
This International Women’s Day, let's continue to advocate for equality, break down barriers, and ensure that the path to success in accountancy - and every other field - is open to everyone, no matter what their journey may look like.
